Here at the filters the remaining small
light particles are removed from the water. From here the water goes into
the clearwell where more chlorine is added along with caustic and zinc
orthophosphate (a corrosion inhibitor for the pipe system).

Head Loss Guage
The loss of head
guage measures the amount of head loss of the filter. This is the difference
in the amount of water coming on top of the filter from the amount
coming off the bottom. This enables the operator to ascertain the need
for filter washing.
